Final Paper

I was spellchecking my final paper before I email it, and I was thinking that I can see myself in the future referring back to it. As a teacher, it's inevitable that I will have ELL students in my classroom. When I do, I know that I will refer back to the information I learned in this class, especially this paper, to help make sure that I can help them to the best of my ability. By using the information in the paper, I can identify the stage that the students are in, and use that to determine the best way to include them in the class and learn the content.

I agree. I really learned a lot from this final paper. I chose language acquisition for my final paper topic. I was amazed at how much information was available for the topic on the Web. I really had no idea how long it took for English language learners to gain a full academic grasp of the language. After writing the final paper I now can identify each of the stages and also pick appropriate teaching strategies to employ at each of the different stages. In a way I wish that I had at least one ELL student in my Junior Field class, but I guess I will have to wait until my student teaching to see the stages first hand.

I was spellchecking my final paper before I email it, and I was thinking that I can see myself in the future referring back to it. Even as a HS Spanish Teacher, it's possible that I will have ELL students in my classroom. Those who doesn't speak Spanish at all!!!I know that I will refer back to the information I learned in this class, especially this paper, to help me making sure that I can help them to the best of my knowledge. By using the information in the paper, I can identify the stage that the students are in, and I want to use it to determine the best way that I can help my students and to including them in the class and help them to learn the content.
