I thought that the article had some really good points. So many colleges say that they stand by those interpretational quotes posted in their catalogs. At the end of the day do they really stand by what they are trying to teach? Are they just teaching us one thing……my way or no way at all. How many times have you looked at your tuition bill and questioned why the university is billing for a university fee? Where is that money going? If the money is going to be used to improve the campus, then shouldn’t the investors (us students) receive a portfolio every quarter informing us how the money is being used? I’m sure if I deducted certain fees from my tuition I wouldn’t be allowed to stay in class.
There is one thing that I have learned from college that I will always use…..life experiences. Spending time in a classroom teaches me how to react to a student’s undesirable behavior or how to react to a students embarrassing question. I think that the information that we receive in college is only a bass line of what we need to know. I think that college teaches us to become efficient teachers, but our experience in the classroom will teach is how to become an effective teacher.
