Reaction to Michael Moore

I think Michael Moore presented some real thought provoking issues in his article "Beware of the White Man". He provided his readers with a lot of compelling concrete statistics about the differences between "blacks and whites". I was particularly interested in the fact that the average "black" income is roughly 60% less than the average "white" income. I really think that he had some great research and facts. Unfortunately, I think Michael Moore has a tendency to be very over-dramatic. For example, I almost didn't get to read about some of these interesting statistics because I almost stopped reading the article after I skimmed over his ridiculous introduction. His supposed overwhelming fear of the white man was actually kind of offensive. His flare for the dramatic, in my mind, almost really destroyed an interesting article dealing with a serious issue that continues to plague American society. I believe that in many ways, racism unfortunately is still very much alive. I don't like however Mr. Moore's overzealous generalizations, refering to whites as "idiot", and implying that all whites are racists. This article contained a lot of interesting questions and statistics and I only wish it had been written by anyone other than him. I think that there could have been a much more appropriate way to convey his message, but maybe thats just me!

I agree with you, when you say that Michael Moore exagerates as far as his supposed fear for the white man, but I think that when he says "be aware of the white man" and defines whites as "idiots", he is not talking about all whites, I really think he is addresing his anger and fear to those that are in power, those that manage to keep our society the way it is, those "idiots" are the ones that we have to be afraid of, the white supremacy, the ones in power and in positions to make dedicions that affect the minorities and even the "whites" that are not in powerful posotitions within a given institution.

I don't agrree on everything Michael Moore is saying; but racism occurs everywheree specially among minorities and emigrants like me. Ever since I came to this country I always work as twice as the rest of others, Does that make me hateful???? NOT AT ALL. I appreciate everything that I have becuse I work hard and noone can't take it away from me. I feel that Michael Moore was blaming everything that went wrong on white men. I had met with white people whom had been mean, rude, and nasty with me but not all white people are like that. I also met white people that had giving me the chance and the help to do something better either in school or work. Michael Moore is a hater and he is a white man that hates white people, how confuse is it???? Anyway maybe because he did not have the opportunity it seems so easy to blame someone else for their wrong doings. I as kept reading I was becoming more irritated with the way he was saying negatives about everything. I do believe there are many stereotypes about black people but I don't judge them as dreg dealers, killers and muggers when I firts meet them. AS a HS teacher in a low income city most of my students are black and if I treat them that way they will not come to school at all. But I want them to learn and come to schoool every day, so I treat them nice, as humans and important part of society. No matter what we do or say racism will always be part of society. Immigrants take over jobs that others don't want to do, as much as we want to change that it will still occur in every part of the world. I feel that Michael Moore is very naive hoe he speaks in this article.
