Michael Moore

I completely agree with everything Michael Moore is saying. Everything he said, was something that I've wanted to say. Sometimes I am ashamed to be a white American. As a race, we have hurt so many people and so many lives. A large percentage of the people in America think things are better now, that African Americans have the same opportunities as white Americans, but in reality, it really isn't. The way that Michael Moore writes his thoughts is very easy to read and keeps you interesting. He doesn't talk about it completely seriously, but with sarcasm that keeps young adults' interest.
When I really thought about it, every person I have been hurt by in my life has been white. His points are very valid. I have heard of Michael Moore before, but I had never looked into any of his work. Now I think I will. His beliefs seem to align with my own. I heard that his movie, Fahrenheit 9/11 is about the war in Iraq. I think his views of the war would most likely match my own views.
As teachers, we should be celebrating our own and our students' racial and cultural differences. Students should be proud of their heritage and race and shouldn't feel like their race is inferior in any way. However, we should not pretend race isn't there. I think that's what a lot of people do to say that they aren't racist. Instead of pretending racial differences don't exist, we should celebrate them and teach that every child is unique, but we are all people. We do come from different cultures and backgrounds, but because we are all part of the human race, we all need to respect each other and love our differences.
