Diversity in the Classroom
Diversity in all aspects such as learning ability, language, culture, religion, and ect., is a challenge for the teacher because they heave to be aware of all the different things the student is bringing into the classroom. I think it is important that the teacher knows about each student and what makes them different and be able to use that knowledge to teach the students. This can be done by have the students write a report and create a presentation about themselves. This is a good lesson because it uses writing skills, speaking skills, listening skills and the students get to learn about eachother. So although the students are talking about themselves they are working on other skills. So the studnets get to work together and learn together while embracing their diversity. Ther are so many ways to use the students diversity to teach them, such as when when teaching them about maps, if there are students that have just come from another country you could learn about the country and its geographic location and then teach the students about the country, in a geography lesson. Over all it is importat that the teacher understands that each students is different and modifications may need to be made.
