Communicating With Parents of ELL Students

I read the blog titled Family and Community Resources about communicating with parents of ELL students and decided to look into the issue myself. It is so very important that a teacher have a good relationship with the parents of the students in their class. Having a good relationship in which both parties are working together as a team is in the best interst of the child and will help make their educational experience more pleasurable, meaningful, and worthwhile. ELL students and their parents should not be excluded from this because of a language barrier. I found the following article online that gave some really good suggestions for communicating with parents who do not speak English. Knowing that there are ways to deal with the issue makes me feel a little more comfortable about it myself. Hope it helps!

Thank you for this link. It seems that there is a huge issue nearly all over when it comes to teachers communicating with parents who speak another language. As educators we want to keep the doors to communication open but many times it is extremely diffiult with the language barrier.
