Corsets

After reading about foot binding and neck stretching, I became more interested in other cultures and what they believed in to become more beautiful. While researching, I came across something about corsets. Corsets were underwear that made the waist smaller. In Crete, Egypt, Rome, Greece, and Assyria are known for corsets.
A girl would start to wear corsets around age 14. After years of pulling corsets tighter and tighter, they dislocated internal organs. Everything shifted down and up so the waist would be left empty. Women who wore corsets could not sit down straight. A woman's waist was about 18-19 inches around.
Because we are not familiar with other cultures it is extremely interesting to research about them. Please take a look at this website and tell me what you think about corsets.
